A full day of games and events and a crammed evening of drinking, eating and dancing away to the band on the beach. Thanks again to Simon for organising everything and for Ian and Allen's help with activities. If you want to see more about the band, check out their website. Thank goodness we have 50years to recover before the next one!
Dave Harlow had the idea some months ago of organising an event that would try and get a large number of club members on the water over a weekend as part of the clubs 50th anniversary celebrations. His idea was to have a number of different groups setting off at the same time to cover all the areas of the harbour. Click title link to read more about what happened.
As part of our 50th Birthday celebrations, we will explore all of the farthest reaches of Poole Harbour. Over the weekend of
10 & 11 June 2006, we will run a series of trips to every possible corner of the harbour. An experienced paddler will lead each trip, to handle navigation.
Organised by the BCU Sae Touring commitee, this is an ideal opportunity to meet fellow sea kayakers, share information, pick up practical skills and have a good time. Click the title link for more details (Word doc).
The Devizes to Westminster Canoe Race, a 125 mile paddle, is one of the greatest challenges available to canoeists. Rose and Jeannette completed this race in an open boat (a C2) in an amazing 28 hours, 18 minutes and 10 seconds over the Easter weekend. They decided to do it in aid of the Stroke Association.
