Beating the bounds
Saturday 10th & Sunday 11th June.2006
As part of our 50th Birthday celebrations, we will explore all of the farthest reaches of Poole Harbour. Over the weekend of 10 & 11 June 2006, we will run a series of trips to every possible corner of the harbour. An experienced paddler will lead each trip, to handle navigation.
You can sign up for any trip for which you are capable of paddling the distance. If the timing allows, you can go on more than one trip. If you can, take a digital camera (preferably waterproof), and photograph the farthest point you reach!
This is not a race! Every club member, of all abilities, is welcome, and we will paddle as sociable groups, at a comfortable speed, so if you have ever wanted to visit some far-flung corner of the harbour, now is your chance!
There will probably be considerable pressure on club boats, so if you need to use one, please book it as soon as possible with the QM, Phil Jackson – there is a list of all club boats in the club hut now, with the option to sign for either Saturday or Sunday, or both.
If the weather is bad on the selected weekend, we will postpone the event until better weather.
We will try and run all the trips on both days of the weekend, to give everybody a chance of completing two of their favourite trips!
Most trips will make use of the rising tide to reach the furthest limits possible. Why not take a picnic and enjoy a leisurely lunch on some distant shore?
- The date is Saturday 10 & Sunday 11 June 2006.
- Meet at 0900 at Lake Pier to get club boats; be ready to launch at 1000.
- High tide at Poole (Town Quay) is 0800 & 1300 (Saturday) and 0900 and 1400 (Sunday)
- Dave Harlow will coordinate the day.

- Each trip must comprise at least 3 paddlers; no one is to paddle alone.
- Let Dave and your trip leader know if you have any medical condition, which may cause problems.
- Junior members must complete a consent form (available on the website), unless their parents are also paddling on the same trip, or they are on the Juniors trip led by Geoff.
