Andy Y and Stella P organised a fantastic club trip to St Malo where we met our French friends from Cherbourg early after the overnight ferry.
Day 1 paddle was in St Michel Bay, following the channel out to Tombelaine Island and (trying) to surf the tidal bore back again. It was a bit elusive but great fun trying! The evening passed with a classy dinner at La Tulipe Noire, St Leger Near Granville, our B&B stop for the night, superb food with superb company!
Day 2 paddle was nearly blown away but we persevered after plenty of baguette, croisants, Pain au chocolat etc and had an exhiliarating paddle on Bassin De La Rance after driving back to St Suliac near St Malo. The weather was up and down but the spirits were always up! Next came a farewell snack with our French friends at St Suliac and time for a good look around Mt St Michel (thankfully avoiding leaving our cars in the car park during flood tide like someone did) before the long drive to Cherbourg and the overnight ferry to Poole.
Everything went like clockwork, many thanks to Andy and Stella for coolly organising a full, fun weekend, to Ton and Peter for their hospitality and to our coach Ian for making sure we didn't get left on the St Michel Bay sandbanks. Photos by Greg H & Alan T
11 folk left Lulworth Cove for a trip along a spectacular section of the Jurassic coastline past Mupe Bay, Worbarrow Tout, Gad Cliff and Durdle Door and were lucky to be blessed with some warm February sun.
Succes for some of our Juniors with medals at a 5km white water race held on the Exe from Tiverton and from the White Water Race held on the River Dart on 3rd Feb. We were well represented and grabbed 3 more medals for the collection. Even better no-one swam. Keep it up guys!
As the wind increased hour by hour we tried a few new surf boats out in conditions that becamoe more challenging each hour of Saturday and Sunday. Thanks for the great photos Rich!
Braving heavy snow, closed roads and freezing temperatures, those that made it to deepest Wales turned up the heat on the rivers. Cold hands, cold noses and cold beers. Thanks to Sue for running a great trip. Photos from Ian and other paddlers.
Congratulations to Allen for pulling off such a spectacular event and for making such an spectacular viking long ship with the Ian's help. Click the title link to see photos of boat, costumes and flames as PHCC invades Wareham. "Form an orderly queue please for raping and pillaging!"
